No Mountable File Systems Dmg
Dmg failed to mount due to error 95. (no mountable file systems) Tried to install an app and go the above error - Answered by a verified Mac Support Specialist.
- There is a blue folder that says “WD Apps for Mac.” When I click on that, I see one icon that says “WDApps1.0.1.3.dmg.” When I click on that, a warning box pops up that says “WDApps1.0.1.3.dmg no mountable file systems.” I don’t know what that means, but the bottom line is that I don’t seem to be able to use the My Book.
- I have a similar question. I am running an OLD G4 with OSX 10.3.9 and I can not open DMG files. I get a message saying 'The following disk images failed to mount:.dmg REASON - No mountable file system. Is that because my OS/System is so old?
I followed the instructions for plugging in the My Book external drive, and I can see the manufacturer’s contents, but I can’t do anything with the drive. No installation programs pop up, and none are visible on in my applications folder or any where else on my iMac.The manual says that there should be a “WD Apps Set Up file” that I can click on and click through, but there is nothing. I also don’t see anything calling itself “WD SmartWare.”There is a blue folder that says “WD Apps for Mac.” When I click on that, I see one icon that says “WDApps1.0.1.3.dmg.” When I click on that, a warning box pops up that says “WDApps1.0.1.3.dmg no mountable file systems.”I don’t know what that means, but the bottom line is that I don’t seem to be able to use the My Book. I have tried to drag files from my “My Passbook” portable drive and from the computer to the “My Book,” but it won’t copy anything to the “My Book.”Please help!
I got a complete solution to my problem. WD Support sent me this solution, but keep in mind that I had already updated my system from OS X Lion to X Yosemite. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We checked the screenshot provided and it seems like the hard drive hasn’t been reformatted for your Mac yet. This device comes pre-formatted for PC. It requires to be reconfigured for your Mac. Our recommendation is to follow the steps provided on the link below so you can drag and drop files to the hard drive.Formatting the drive will delete all the information that you have in it. This process is Data Destructive and cannot be undone.
Once the process begins, all the Data on the drive will be lost!. Plug your hard drive to your Mac2. Once the drive appears on the desktop, double left-click on the Internal Mac drive. Choose Applications, then Utilities, and double-click on Disk Utility. In the far left pane, choose the drive to be partitioned and formatted. Typically there are two listings for each drive, unless there is more than one partition on a particular drive.
Choose the option that gives you the capacity of the drive. It is usually directly above the name of the drive. There should be 5 options on the top of the Screen and you will need to click on Partition.Under Partition Layout, click the drop-down box and click on 1 partition.Click the Options button and choose GUID Partition Table. Then click on OK.Back to the Top, you will see where it says Partition Information, Name Untitled One. You can rename the drive if you wish to.Right under the name, it says Format.
Make sure it says Mac OS Extended ( Journaled ).Click on Apply on the Lower right Corner and then Partition on the New WindowIf you have any further questions, please reply to this email and we will be happy to assist you further.Sincerely,DeletedWestern Digital Service and Support.
Hello:I'm having an issue where any program (.dmg) I attempt to download will not install. I get an error stating that the disk image cannot be opened and that the 'file or folder' cannot be found. I've googled the issue and have learned that most people recommend attempting the download with a different browser. Doing so has been unsuccessful. Also unsuccessful has been redownloading the DMG, as well as doing so after a system restart. The resulting error message is the same for all programs attempted for download, except programs downloaded and installed through the app store or by using home-brew or GIT in terminal.Alternatively, I get an error that states that the.DMG cannot be opened because it has 'no mountable file system.' Attempts to remedy the situation using Disk Utility have been unsuccessful, and the permissions on my HD are good.I want to reinstall OS X 10.11 without deleting my system content.
I do NOT want to wipe the hard drive in order to reinstall OS X 10.11. I do not have time capsule or any other backup storage.
Adobe Flash No Mountable File Systems
When I attempt to reinstall using internet recovery mode, I get an error that OS X Mountain Lion, this computer's original OS X version, cannot be installed because a newer version of OS X is already installed. I know from experience I'll get the same error if I create an install medium for OS X 10.11.I'm trying to find some form of scanning tool or application which does a full system check and corrects any system data that I may have messed with thereby causing the issue. I'm unable to find one, and the Install OS X El Capitan application does not appear to have that functionality.Any ideas on how to remedy the issue?
You might try booting into the recovery partition and then opening up disk utility from there and letting it correct/repair the permissions on the volume. If your original checks with disk utility were done from the booted system it won't be able to check/repair everything because the system is 'live'.
Some time ago you used to be able to re-install an OS right over an existing install without re-formatting the drive. If that can still be done, you might be able to do that, but I haven't seen that option lately so I don't know what will and won't be destroyed.Personally if it was me I'd get a backup made ASAP in case it turns out to be some type of hardware issue. You could also split a partition on a new backup drive and then let do an OS install onto one of those partitions, which should at least give you access to the stuff on the other drive.
